Photo of a Woman at a Bus Stop in Italy
Michael McLane captured this woman with red hair and wearing a rain coat on a rainy day while traveling in Italy. How is it that such a mundane scene can become such a work of art? Perhaps it is the woman's strikingly colored red hair. She looks elegant and sophisticated from the back, such that I am a little shocked to see her waiting for a bus, a victim of the mundane impositions of urban life. Have you ever wondered how much of your life is taken up with just waiting? No better time to ponder this reality than when waiting upon public transport to arrive and rescue you from your state of suspended animation and place you back on your life's course. Many people in modern cities in the West rely on their cars to take them to and from their suburban outposts, so many of them may not have asked themselves this question. But they no doubt have a very clear idea of how much of their lives are consumed in the suspended animation of the suburban commute by car.
